Snapchat is becoming more popular. It has surpassed Twitter in daily usage.

Why convey a message with 140 characters, when you can instead do it with a disposable 10 second video? Equally, you can now share your location with your friends with overlayed graphics called “geofilters”.

Geofilters are location based overlays that users can apply to their Snaps. They are popular with major locations and events.
Using Snapchat geofilters is very easy and doesn’t take much effort. After you are done taking a photo, swipe from right to left. If there is a Snapchat geofilter available in your current location, it will overlay on your photo. Then, all you need to do is hit send.

Now Snapchatters, artists and designers around the world can submit their own fun and creative Geofilter artwork.

With the increasing popularity of Snapchat’s usage, especially amongst millennials, sending a custom geofilter of an event to a friend is an effective promotional tool. Based on Snapchat’s 100% user engagement.

American universities are already utilising Snapchat geo-filters for their benefit.
